Dr. Mira Kallio-Tavin is a Distinguished Professor of Art at the Lamar Dodd School of Art, University of Georgia. Her teaching and research focus on qualitative, post-qualitative, and posthuman approaches to artistic and arts-based inquiry. Her artistic practice primarily involves video and painting. Her scholarship engages with critical disability studies as well as more-than-human perspectives in contemporary art practices and art educational contexts.

Dr. Kallio-Tavin has published extensively in international journals and books and is the author and editor of six books. She is the Senior Editor of Studies in Art Education. Dr. Kallio-Tavin is past Vice-President of the International Society for Education through Art (InSEA), and past InSEA World Councilor. She is also past chair of the Art Education Research Institute (AERI), and newly elected Distinguished Fellow of the National Art Education Association (NAEA).
